Course Information

This is the first of a series of courses for Linux system administrator training. It is an advanced, technical course teaching the student how Linux works from the ground up.
This is a fast paced course, upon which the following courses are built. It is not an introductory level course.
The Linux operating system requires a high level of expertise from the administrator and the student is expected to be able to operate at this level.


Audience and Prerequisite

GUI Linux Admin and GUI Linux Advanced Admin is a prerequisite. System Administrators who did the GUI Linux Admin and GUI Linux Advanced Admin and wants to become LPI Certified and more sufficient on the command line.

  • Linux overview
  • Installing Linux
  • Advanced command line (commands, file manipulation, etc)
  • Routine administration (users, groups, permissions, scheduling, etc)
  • Hardware devices
  • The file system (mounting, linking, etc)
  • The shell
  • Installing and maintaining software
  • Initialization, shutdown and runlevels
  • Services, scheduling and jobs
  • The X Window System

Structure

This course runs for five full days, usually from Monday to Friday. The hours are 9:00 to 16:00. Included in the course fee are:
